Warrensburg boys soccer brings back six of its 11 starters from a season ago heading into the second year under coach Bryan Olivas

“We lost a lot of our key players, but we return those who are going to be key players now,” Olivas said.

The Tigers will be without leading goal scorer JT Sherman and second leading scorer Cade Conley.

Junior Carter Bell, who is splitting time with football as the place kicker, will take over as the front of the offensive attack along with junior Ryan Russell.

“Carter Bell has been phenomenal,” Olivas said.

Ben Sachs is a returning All-District second-team and All-Conference honorable mention player.

The Tigers will have junior Dominick Belardo back in goal a year after a 67 season.

Warrensburg made it a priority to get in work during the summertime, which has been paying dividends in the early fall practices.

“During the summer we had a lot of people show up, so I can see those that showed up know what they are doing, they know what is going on,” Olivas said. “Their passes are pretty good, and the ones we are incorporating right now, they are fitting in. A lot of them, they just needed a refresher, but some of them it’s new to them.”

Warrensburg opens the season at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 20 with a home jamboree before taking on Odessa at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28.
