WARRENSBURG — Students from The Music Studio of Warrensburg visited the First United Methodist Church's Family Life Center May 8 and presented its production of Mo Willems’ “Elephant & Piggie’s We Are in a Play” for the Warrensburg Christian Academy students and the Kingdom Kids.

Guests watched Gerald and Piggie along with their friends The Squirelles, Delivery Dog and Ice Cream Penguin.

Commissioned by Lincoln Center, specifically for young audiences, the play combines three of Willems’ popular childrens books into a one-hour play complete with audience participation.

Gerald the Elephant was played by Jaden Neckels, a junior at Knob Noster High School.

Warrensburg High School sophomore Mati Shore performed the role of Piggie.

The Squirelles consisted of WHS freshman Kaitlin Neil and Concordia home-schoolers Delaney and Kierstin Nelson.

The roles of Delivery Dog and Ice Cream Penguin were portrayed by Penelope Welker.

A video of the audience participation number “We’re in a Play” can be found on both the church’s Facebook page as well as the TMSOW Facebook page.

Two students received free tickets to Frozen Jr., which will be performed on our west parking lot in June as part of the Theatre Under the Stars program of TMSOW.

All of the children also received a free ticket to see "Madagascar: A Musical Adventure Jr." this summer, too.

The Warrensburg First United Methodist Church is located at 141 E. Gay St.
