Jonell Marie VanDam, of Rocheport, MO, passed away on November 6, 2019, at home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Open Door Baptist Church, 4838 E. Meadow Lark Lane, Columbia, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00.

Jonell Marie VanDam was born September 17, 1940, in Madison, Indiana, the daughter of Lewis B. and Emily Willis, and they preceded her in death. She married Ron VanDam on May 30, 1964, in Milton, Kentucky. They were blessed to have 50 years together before he preceded her in death on July 26, 2014. Other survivors include two daughters, Ronda Wickham (Matt) and Rebecca Campbell (Jerry); one sister, Elaine Long; one brother, Terry Willis (Charmane); five grandchildren, Hannah Bruce (Devin), Abby Kassebaum (Jesse), Grace Wickham (Alex Julius, Fiance), Cody Campbell and EmmaLee Campbell, one great-granddaughter also survives, Liberty Bruce.

Jonell VanDam had a long career as the Secretary of the Music Department at the University of Central Missouri where she enjoyed working for an outstanding group of faculty and staff. She was actively involved at Grover Park Baptist Church in Warrensburg, Missouri, for over 30 years and then continued her church involvement at Open Door Baptist Church in Columbia, Missouri for the past 15 years.

In her spare time, she enjoyed going for walks, watching Cardinal baseball, traveling with her sister, spending time with her family and making quilts for others. She was a member of the Threaded Hearts Quilting group at Compass Church and enjoyed and cherished her time with her Threaded Hearts Sisters.

Her first love was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, followed by her family and her many friends. She will be deeply missed.
