James Lee Davis, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at his home in Warrensburg.

He was born July 12, 1949, in Fosterburg, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Mary (Eaker) Davis.

Jim graduated in 1967 from Alton Senior High School in Alton, Illinois. He later joined the Army becoming a highly-decorated Cobra helicopter pilot and serving as a combat airman in the Vietnam War.

He worked for several years as an air traffic controller in the Miami and Daytona Beach, Florida areas, and later for the USDA where he retired in 2018 after 38 years of service.

Jim was an avid gardener and had a great love of all animals. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by: his brothers, John (Patricia) Davis, of Jefferson City, Missouri and Joe (Linda) Davis, of Tavernier, Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Judith Hagedorn and Mary Hicks; and brother, Junior Rea. As published in the Daily Star Journal.
