WARRENSBURG — Law enforcement authorities are looking into whether two bodies found in Arkansas are related to a missing person case in Warrensburg.
Arkansas State Troopers removed the decomposed bodies of two individuals from a vehicle on Monday, Oct. 29.
The apparent crash scene was near Leslie, Arkansas, along U.S. Highway 65.
Arkansas state police spokesman Bill Sadler said the vehicle was crashed near a tree line along the highway. Sadler told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the area often has thick foliage but a trooper happened to see the vehicle this week.
The remains of both individuals have been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for determination of manner and cause of death.
An investigation is continuing.
The Warrensburg Police Department, along with other local agencies, called for the public’s help on Sept. 27 in locating 35-year-old Leslea Shannon.
Warrensburg Police Chief Rich Lockhart said Shannon and Jamie Katzenmaier were last seen at 12:23 a.m. Sept. 9 in Marshall, Arkansas, when a Searcy County sheriff’s deputy stopped the pair for having a taillight out.
Lockhart said it is was possible Shannon was headed to see her daughter in Little Rock, Arkansas.
