The Johnson County Emergency Management Agency seeks help as it works on several projects to enhance its response capabilities.
The agency is in need of a small unmanned aircraft, utility task vehicle and a rapid response vehicle.
Agency information states the small unmanned aircraft is top priority.
The small unmanned aircraft (drone) will be utilized for public safety response within Johnson County; specifically to search and rescue incidents; as well as hazardous materials scenes, damage assessments, as well as other miscellaneous fire/rescue and law enforcement situations.
The UTV would be deployed via trailer to various scenes in which access is limited and resources are needed; including personnel and supplies.
The rapid response vehicle would be the purchase of a sport utility vehicle to replace a 2005 Dodge Caravan.
The current vehicle has a laundry list of mechanical and cosmetic deficits; along with no towing capacity, no two-way radio communications capacity and no warning equipment (lights/sirens).
This special-purpose vehicle is for the transport of response equipment and personnel to incident sites which may have limited or restricted access.
