WARRENSBURG — New York Times Best Selling Author and highly-sought after inspirational speaker Rachel Macy Stafford will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at the University of Central Missouri in Hendricks Hall.

Stafford’s presentation is the inaugural event for the Whiteman Spouses’ Club Speaker Series, a new collaborative effort supported by the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce Women In Networking and Military Affairs Committees to foster relationships between military spouses from Whiteman Air Force Base and neighboring communities.

Best known for her work as Hands Free Mama, all three of Stafford’s New York Times bestselling books, “Hands Free Mama,” “Hands Free Life,” and “Only Love Today,” resonate deeply with audiences across America.

Stafford is a certified special education teacher and has been a featured as a parenting expert by NBC’s TODAY show.

“She’s an author many of us have read,” spouses club member Katye Riselli said. “We’re real excited.”

In an increasingly digital age, her message of overcoming distraction, living better and loving more is considered relevant for strengthening families and building communities.

As a featured speaker for parenting and education forums, and frequent advocate for intentional living, Stafford will encourage guests to define what gives their lives meaning and offer practical tools to establish daily habits that will leave their hands free to grasp what really matters and fulfill their purpose.

Riselli said the event is a fundraiser for the spouses club, which gives to charitable outreach organizations and sponsors several scholarships.

“We were looking to augment the fundraising we were already doing,” she said.

This event is open to the public, and tickets are available online at www.whitemanwsc.com or at the door, space permitting.

Riselli said they already received more than 300 commitments to the event and expect many groups to purchase tickets at the door.

“We anticipate having a great crowd,” she said.

She said people from as far away as Oklahoma and Arkansas are making the trip to see Stafford speak.

Guest parking for the event is available in parking lots 3 and 24 at South and Maguire streets, parking lot 18 across from the Lovinger Building at Maguire and Clark streets and parking lot 33 at the Multipurpose Building.
