Calling All Kids To Help With Shoe Drive
The youth of the Warrensburg Church of the Brethren are participating in the Festival of Sharing 2019 by collecting gently-worn, closed-toed shoes. We would like to invite the youth of other congregations to also collect shoes and then bring them to us so that we can send them to Nicaragua. This could also be kids in any local organization, official or otherwise, even just a neighborhood effort.
If you are unfamiliar with this ecumenical Festival you can access their website at FestivalofSharing.org or follow their call to action posts and Festival updates at https://www.facebook.com/pg/FestivalofSharing/posts/.
The Rainbow Network is part of the FOS, a partnership-based ministry operating in nine geographic regions of rural Nicaragua. Many rural people go barefoot because they cannot afford shoes, and this means that they are more likely to contract parasites through direct contact with the soil. Each donated pair of shoes represents one life greatly improved.
We will be taking all shoes to the Tipton United Methodist Church on September 28 and would like to have all donated shoes at the Church of the Brethren no later than Sunday, September 21. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Janis Russell, 660-362-1213 land line; 941-400-2141 text. The Address of the COB is 703 E. Hale Lake Road (driveway is at the intersection of DD Hwy & Mitchell).
